On our way back to San Diego we stopped off and made a few drops for cods. They were biting. Our ETA is 06:30.

Quick report-hot while its still happening! We have 80 on the deck and the albacore are still in the corner. Could this be the new area that we have been looking for? Maybe,,,,,its looking pretty darn good right now.

Albacore!
Two stops this morning. The first for 16 and the second is still going with over 80 on the deck and a few fish still hanging. Good grade some 15 pounders, but we are seeing a lot more twenty to twenty-five pound fish. Thats new. Could this be the wave we are looking for? Lets hope so.
Gotta get back down there,

If you can't tell by the recent reports, I love Cedros island. And 99% of the passengers we bring here leave with the same feeling. When you cast a surface iron in front a breezer of large yellowtail and then watch as fifteen yellows of that school peel off and follow your iron to the boat before crushing it at your feet. How could you not like this place? Or maybe its when the yellows slow down and you go into the beach and make a couple of drifts for halibut and come up with a handful of eighteen to thirty pounders, you know just to fill the dead time. How about anchoring up for the night on a rock pile and scratch out a few fifty pound broomtail grouper, before the bait bites.
Its been a good couple of days here around the islands and now we headed north.

It was another wonderful day here at Cedros island. The fishing was never wide open, but steady throughout the day with one to six fish on the end of the line all the time. First thing, before pulling anchor, the premium grade yellows made a showing, dropper loops with mackerel were the rigs of choice. After that it was out to deeper water to find schools of roaming school grade fish, which today, made up the majority of our catch. What was exciting today was to watch ten to fifteen yellowtail follow surface irons to the boat before one would race out from the pack and annihilate the 7X! What a show! This didn't just happen once, but many times during the day. Two white sea bass were also landed by Bob Kasaki(35 pounder) and Steve Hernandez(20 pounder). This mornings weather was warm with hardly a breeze, but so common to the south end and the Keller canal, by the afternoon we had a steady fifteen knots and lots of white caps.

Instead of just concentrating on the albacore and bluefin we took a tour into the east and looked for kelp paddy's holding yellowtail. One out of five wasn't dry and supported a group of yellows that eagerly bit the sardine baits. Then it was back out to the west for some more albacore action, most of which came in the form of jig strikes.

After nearly a day's worth of travel the anglers onboard were chomping at the bit to get there lines in the water. The first two spots yielded some bites, but not what we were looking for. Our third time to stop the boat was a charm, almost immediately everyone had one on. Dropper loops and heavy jigs worked wonders on the 15 to 22 pounds yellowtail. It was a wise move to for go the offshore action(or lack of it) for a couple of hours at the islands.
