It was mostly a travel day today for the Shogun. We did manage to arrive in the albacore grounds by early afternoon, and it didn't take long to find the fish. Bruce put us on schools of breaking fish and deeper sonar schools. There were a few decent stops for the last day of the trip, and smiles all around at sunset. Right now the passengers are seated for a great prime rib dinner and the boat is riding smoothly toward the point.

Today the Shogun fished Guadalupe Island. Bruce looked down the length of the island and anchored up the boat where we found jumping tuna. The sharks took a few but we managed to boat some nice size yellowfin. The fish bit live sardines fished fly line, beneath the kite and the balloon. Several went over 50#. All in all it was a slow day but there is good sign of tuna at the loop. We hope Neptune flips the switch and these fish go on a bite soon. Right now we are traveling back toward the albacore to finish up the trip. Another layer of albacore in the RSW tanks would do just fine.

Today was a trying day for all aboard the Shogun. Lots of driving around and little fishing. We started the day with a gray bite for a handful and another stop mid morning but it was a long stretch thereafter. We finished up the afternoon with a decent stop. Albacore boiling around the boat, and several landed. There are fish in the area but they don't stay with the boat for long. We hope the bite of weeks past will pick up again. Right now the Shogun is pointed toward Guadalupe Island, we will arrive at the north end around 8 am tomorrow. The group is excited as the island is an interesting place to visit. Now if the tax man will just give us a break.

The albacore still have our full attention. This morning Bruce had the boat positioned in an area with albacore and bait sign. We caught several then they disappeared for most lof the day. Close to sunset we came across some whales and the albie bite was on! There were fish caught all around. It seems that the fish are on the move and were are now motoring up a few miles to be on the fish tomorrow morning. All on board the Shogun hope for some early action as Bruce plans to try out Guadalupe Island next. There are some larger yellowfin being caught but the tax man is said to be taking a large cut. Still plenty of opportunity ahead on this 5 day trip.

This afternoon the Shogun is headed back out to the albacore grounds with Capt Bruce Smith at the wheel. We are an a 5 day trip sponsored by Braid Fishing Products. All aboard received a Braid gift bag, the heavy casting lure should produce on albacore and yellows. Bruce intends to give the area all his effort tomorrow then decide on the fishing options. The weather is fair with moderate winds and all on board are ready for action.

Today the wind came up and the albacore bite slowed considerably. The schools are still around but the bite is off today. Norman took the Shogun to Cortez Bank to try for yellowtail, but they weren't interested either. All in all it was a great trip. We have plenty of beautiful albacore in the RSW fish holds to off load tomorrow. Tommie was watching those fish like a hawk, adjusting salinity, temperature and water level to insure the best quality of catch possible. Tomorrow is turn around day once again, we will be leaving on a 5 day Braid charter hoping a consistent bite develops.

The Shogun once again found itself among biting schools of albacore today. We didn't have many long glory stops but we never had to look far for the next willing school of long fins. Just when a bite seemed over a few more fish would be hooked. so went the day. Tomorrow Capt. norm is going to begin fishing in the same area and then possibly look for yellow tail in the afternoon. The weather remains mild with sunny skies and light breezes. We can only hope the fish stay around another month.

The weather came down all day long, making for a great day of fishing. The albacore were on the chew from early on. We had a spectacular day chasing bird schools, jumpers, foamers and sonar marks. What a difference from early season when we located school after school that wouldn't bite. Our charter group did a great job of working together throughout the day. Right now is a great time to get on a boat and come out here. Better yet make a reservation on one of our Shogun Fall trips where all kinds of fishing opportunities await.
