Hola everyone,
It was a outstanding day of catching big albacore here aboard Shogun. The Seeker/Soft Steel crew, with the new line of Super Seekers, worked like a well oiled machine. They have been doing this for alot of years now and it shows. Have you ever been on a sport boat when there are fish crashing the corner, a dozen people hooked up, and the decibel level is that of a conversation? That is what its like. This group works together and gets the job done. Good communication is one of the keys to making a catch.

Our pictures today include, Chris McClary and Bill "Willy" Casper with a brace of Fatsos pushing 40 pounds, Douglas Corbin with another big albacore and Seekers' own Roy Casey with one of the new Super Seekers bent over the rail.

Even though we were the last in line to unload today, the boys got the boat turned around in a timely manner and we were out the door and on our way to the albacore grounds. Once we arrived to the grounds, the action began. By the end of the day we had landed 64 albacore, wow, what a start to the annual five day Seeker/Soft Steel trip.

Today was spent looking for kelp paddies and finding quite a few. Finding the ones holding fish was a different story. The one lucky kelp that was holding fish did give up some quality yellowtail and small yellowfin tuna. The weather has come up and its a little on the bumpy side here, while going up the line.

Our ETA to Fisherman's Landing is 07:30.

We spent the day at Cedros, chasing yellowtail and scratching out a day of it. John Vanderwier landed a 34 pound halibut, while Larry Whatley was up to his old tricks again and getting them on the Super 6X surface iron. Its an incredible sight to see 25 to 35 pound fish boiling and foaming on bait balls not even a jig cast away.

So far, so good. We worked our way south, looking for kelp paddies and finding some quality yellowtail and dorado to keep us busy throughout the day. The wind came up a little bit in the afternoon, but for the most part we had excellent looking conditions. This group is a pleasure to fish with, Jack and John do a wonderful job at reel maintenance and repair, while keeping on the cutting edge of tackle development.

Today was one our better days,( if not the best so far) for catching big albacore! The weather was good, and the fish were up and biting in stops that ranged from five to eighty-five. Nothing truly wide open, everyone stayed with their thirty and forty pound rigs all day as the fish never really came to the corner. There is a voice pod cast at www.BigFishHappen.com if you want to hear the excitement at the time it was happening. The albacore are well within one day range and U.S. waters, so now is the time to jump on a one day boat and go catch some fish!

Well, we made it out here and ended up with a taster of albacore, 14 to be precise. From the looks of the other boats in the area, it was a good day of fishing. So, we are staying in the area and giving it a try tomorrow.

We left today with the boys from WillFish tackle today. This evening we are headed out to the albacore grounds in hopes of putting something on the boat the first day out. The weather is good, so wish us luck.
