This afternoon the Shogun departed on another San Clemente Island fishing trip. There were gifts from Charkbait Internet Sportfishing, as well as a fishing techniques seminar given by our own Tommie Miles. We will once again try our luck at Catalina, hoping to obtain a tank or two of live squid, then continue on to Clemente. The weather is much cooler than last week, but so far the seas are calm.

Today we on the Shogun had another great day fishing San Clemente Island. Once again live squid was the bait of choice and the calicos bit well. When the current was less than favorable, it was outside for a few drifts on the bottom then back in tight to the kelp again. The skies were clear but we had much cooler air temp today. The ocean temperature is slowly rising, a surface on the yellows could be any day now. Tomorrow calls for warmer conditions, should be another beautiful day on the pond.

yesterday the Shogun departed Fisherman's Landing with the boys from Catchy Tackle, Wahoodad and a cast of fishing all stars en route to San Clemente Island. A slight detour to Catalina and 2 tanks of squid put us in good position upon arriving at Clemente this morning.

We had favorable current early on and the bass cooperated, snapping up the live squid. Fished on a lead head or with a sliding sinker resulted in a quick bite. Several big calicos were photographed and released. When the current and the bass bite slowed down, it was out to deeper water for a few bottom fish drifts. A great dinner in flat calm, just a gentle rock at anchor here in Pyramid cove. Now if we could just bump into a few yellowtail tomorrow.

Today we fished conditions very similar to yesterday. A good morning bass bite and warm weather throughout the day. The live squid was again the bait of choice. Several large calicos were boated and then again released. Favorable current eluded us this afternoon, most all the action came before lunch. Now its a smooth ride down swell, feels like we're in the bay. The Shogun will back fishing San Clemente next weekend on a Chark Bait sponsored trip. We hope for luck with the candy bait and improving ocean conditions.

This evening we celebrated the end of another Shogun fishing adventure with a traditional prime rib dinner. Right now we are abeam of Santo Tomas, and will be in port early tomorrow morning. The fishing was on the slow side and the weather fair. We are proud of the factors that we can control here aboard the Shogun. A clean, well maintained boat with a courteous and knowledgeable crew, great food and good service throughout the fishing experience. The next three weekends we will be fishing San Clemente Island, looking forward to some good local action.
