Guadalupe didn't throw numbers at us today, but we had a good taste of long range fishing action. A happy ending to a drawn out battle with an 80# class tuna on 40# gear kept us on edge. Tuna boiling on a small meat ball as it moved down current and into range of the jig sticks. The resulting hook up on surface iron and the fight on a long rod, all in calm seas and sunny skies. As we moved up island, the wired jigs went on the troll as wahoo were sighted this week. A three way jig stop delivered the first wahoo on the Shogun deck this year. All in all we had a slow day, but some time soon those big tuna are going to bite in numbers. Tomorrow we are going to finish out the trip fishing offshore waters closer to home. Will Fish Tackle is sponsoring another trip, a 13 day adventure before Christmas. More tuna and wahoo!
