Guadalupe didn't throw numbers at us today, but we had a good taste of long range fishing action. A happy ending to a drawn out battle with an 80# class tuna on 40# gear kept us on edge. Tuna boiling on a small meat ball as it moved down current and into range of the jig sticks. The resulting hook up on surface iron and the fight on a long rod, all in calm seas and sunny skies. As we moved up island, the wired jigs went on the troll as wahoo were sighted this week. A three way jig stop delivered the first wahoo on the Shogun deck this year. All in all we had a slow day, but some time soon those big tuna are going to bite in numbers. Tomorrow we are going to finish out the trip fishing offshore waters closer to home.
