The History

In 1985, Ted Dunn and Frank Lo Preste formed Lo Preste-Dunn Sportfishing. 

During this time Ted Dunn designed and built
the Shogun and the Royal Star with the
Shogun ​being completed in 1989.

​In 2014 Ted Dunn sold his stake in the Shogun making 
Frank Lo Preste the majority owner. ​

Catch rates began to soar, the crew and customer service developed a reputation rivaling
​any boat in the fleet. 

In August of 2017, Rene became the Captain of the Shogun and has had phenomenal catches.  He has tremendous fish sense and his drive to succeed in pleasing his passengers in insatiable.  He has put together an absolutely fabulous crew that always hustles and strives to please.  Rene and his entire crew continue to expand the Shogun reputation as one of the premiere long range boats in all of San Diego.

In 2019, Rene and his wife Lindsay partnered with Frank Lo Preste and purchased part ownership of the Shogun and by 2025 they will likely have sole ownership. We are very excited for the future of the Shogun.
