Hey folks- sounds like the Rice Bowl group is at it again! Just checked in with Captain Rene and the guys had a great day. They had steady action on yellowtail for the better part of the day. Fortunately when bite backed off, yellowfin took it's place. Sounds like a great start to the trip. We will give you more updates when we check in with the boat tomorrow. Wish them luck! -Shogun Crew

8/23/17 Hey folks- we departed yesterday on Sal Catania 5 day charter. We decided to make the journey out to Guadalupe island. Check in went smoothly in Ensenada and the ride across has been equally as smooth. We have a very nice load of bait and a light group of 16 anglers. We will be arriving shortly after lunch. So wish us luck. 8/24/17 Hey folks- we saw plenty good enough sign to make for an eventful day. Unfortunately they had other plans on their agenda. We managed to get them to stick around the boat and splash around but it was to no prevail. We anchored up for the night in hopes that we get a shot at some yellowtail. Gonna give it another go on the tuna in the morning and if it doesn't pay off we will stitch our focus over to trying to capture some yt in the afternoon. Hopefully they are a little more eager in the morning hours. Wish us luck 8/25/17 Hey folks- we did manage to use a few tags today. We landed a handful of tuna and a dozen yellows. We seen plenty of sign again today but bites are scarce. The group wants to give it at least another morning here. We are hoping tomorrow is the day things turn around. Wish us luck -Shogun Crew Hey Folks- Checking from our annual Elite/Steel City 3-Day Charter, Charter Master Joe Szabo aboard with a full boat of passengers. We have seen some amazing sign out here, a great sign of Breezing YT yesterday. The weather has been gorgeous and definitely in our favor. We fished the Coronados yesterday and today we are offshore looking for the exotic fish. We have over 200 YT, 40 Bonito, 20 Dorado, 27 BFT all 15-20# and 1 YFT so far for the trip. Wish us lick as we continue our hunt. We will dock at Fisherman's Landing tomorrow morning at 5:30am. -Shogun crew Hey folks- checking in on first full day of fishing with an excellent report. We had very good fishing today on outstanding grade of yellowtail. Majority of our fish were 18-25# with a decent amount up to 30#. Coupled with the delicious spread Kenny put out for dinner, king crab and filet mignon, the group had a pretty darn nice day. Even though we were looking for fish, yesterday was primarily a travel day. We did have jig strike that resulted in a couple handfuls of tuna but that was all we came across for the day. We are going to be searching/ traveling through some water that hasn't been looked at tomorrow in hopes for a dorado kelp or a fresh area of tuna. Wish us luck -Shogun Crew Hey Guys-
We returned yesterday from our annual Walker Martin 3-day charter. The first day we stopped at the old tuna zone and it didn't react as well as we had hoped. The weather was up and the fish were down. We only had about 10 fish that day. Captain Rene decided to search for cleaner, better water by making a 55 mile up the line move. It paid off.....Ended the trip with over 200 tuna from 10-20#. Big thank you to John Rush for bringing his group yearly on the gun. We left yesterday on a 4-day Charter out together by Pat Hayes. Wish us luck and we will update you as we can. -Shogun Crew Hey folks-
Hey folks-
Checking in from an awesome day of fishing. We started off the day with some yellowtail before the sun came up and a couple halibut as it started to crack. At daylight we started seeing phenomenal sign and they really started to bite. It was VERY steady action all morning into the early afternoon. We had our fair share of smaller yellows(3-7#) but we released them all to fight another day. The bulk of the fish were 12-20 pounds with a sprinkle of 8-10 pounders and as big as 35 pounds. We also tagged 11 bluefin tuna in the 15 pound range on the anchor job. We went offshore for the evening and managed to tag some more yellowfin as well. Today was as a productive day as one could ask for! It made for a lot of happy and tired anglers! We are going to do a little prospecting tomorrow so wish us luck and some more fish off our bow. -Shogun Crew |
