Hey folks- checking in here with decent fishing and happy folks. Yesterday we went looking down the coast. We found some better grade yellowtail and got them to respond to us but they weren't very eager to eat the hooked baits. After giving it most the morning and conditions slacking off we headed in to fish the kelp beds. We were greeted with biting calicos, sheepshead, whitefish and other various rockfish. We had steady action from 1400 until dark and the folks got to tag up some delicious table fare. 7/15 We started the morning off on a good foot with a line of kelp paddys for 94 yellows ranging from 6- 20 pounds. Still have plenty of day to fish so hopefully we have more to come. Wish us luck Shogun Crew VERY IMPORTANT REMINDER!! Please remember that Valid Passports are required on all trips. You fish in mexican waters and passports are mandatory. We will be asking to see them at check-in and if you do not have it, you may not be allowed on the boat!!! Hey folks- checking in from our Monterey Bay Aquarium collection/ tagging trip. With the arrival of school size tuna this past week, we were able to gather up the 30 yellowfin tuna we were after. We saw really good sign of 8-18 poumd fish throughout the day yesterday. We spent the remainder of the day, as well as all day today, in search of dorado. Which was also successful. We captured 12 small female dorado to be transferred to the aquarium and put out some satellite tags on bigger specimens. The tags record data such as; water temp, location and depth range. The tag then pops off after the number of days it is set up for 30,45 or 60. We were able to locate quite a few kelps and almost all of them were holding fish. The sign we saw, as well some other fish being caught in new areas, coupled with the improving water conditions we are starting to see is very promising. Hopefully this trend continues and we can put the slow start to this season behind us. -Shogun Crew The gutsy move to go to the Ridge paid off. We had great Yellowtail fishing and all passengers seemed happy with the decision. We left yesterday on our Annual 1.5 day Meals on Wheels Charity Charter. We will update you later on how we are doing. -Shogun Crew |
