Hey folks- checking in from our Monterey Bay Aquarium collection/ tagging trip. With the arrival of school size tuna this past week, we were able to gather up the 30 yellowfin tuna we were after. We saw really good sign of 8-18 poumd fish throughout the day yesterday. We spent the remainder of the day, as well as all day today, in search of dorado. Which was also successful. We captured 12 small female dorado to be transferred to the aquarium and put out some satellite tags on bigger specimens. The tags record data such as; water temp, location and depth range. The tag then pops off after the number of days it is set up for 30,45 or 60. We were able to locate quite a few kelps and almost all of them were holding fish. The sign we saw, as well some other fish being caught in new areas, coupled with the improving water conditions we are starting to see is very promising. Hopefully this trend continues and we can put the slow start to this season behind us. -Shogun Crew
